What is a kinetic watch and how does it work?
Kinetic watches get power from your arm movement that drives a rotor to generate electricity that charges a battery in the watch. They are very convenient because you don't have to wind them.
How is a kinetic watch different from an automatic watch?
Kinetic watches combine the best elements of automatic and quartz watches. A kinetic watch has a self-winding movement, just like an automatic, but it uses a quartz timekeeping mechanism.
How durable is a kinetic watch?
For accuracy nothing beats a quartz watch. For longevity nothing beats an automatic (mechanical) watch. A Kinetic Quartz takes that longevity bit from the automatic watch which makes it an excellent choice.
Is there any downside?
Yes. You will have to wear (move around) the watch almost every day or it will stop. If this is not an option you can either purchase a special unit called watch winder (moves the watch for you) or you might consider other types of watches.
